The Magic Dragon

I got a bit of a story to tell today.
I was watching a Good Mythical Morning episode about the accidents at action park, that reminded me of an incident at a fair I'd gone to,
with my 9 year old little brother years ago.
There was a magic dragon kiddie coaster that he wanted to go on, but he was too scared, so I sat with him.
I remember when the restraints were supposed to be locked down, the bar for our car wouldn't latch. It remained loose.
On top of that, go figure, when he goes around to check the locks, he only checks the first couple of cars and stops because I guess he was too lazy to do the rest.
I panicked and tried to flag the operator down, but he ignored me. I think he thought I was just trying to get us off the ride because my brother was scared,
and they don't really give a shit about that.
So we were stuck here with an unlocked coaster car.
While I was still trying to debate whether to try to get his attention again or just get off the ride, he already started the ride.
So I was like, "o shit!" and grabbed the bar, and forced it down as far as I could over my little brother, and I stuck my feet into the car to leverage myself.
There was a little ridge of metal in the car I could stick them under to keep myself inside of the car, while I held the bar down over my brother's head during the ride.
It took ALL of my strength to keep that bar down over the turns.
I was so fucking pissed when I got off.
If I had slipped for one second, the safety bar would have flung right back up and my brother and I wouldve been launched out of the car on the turn.
I've been terrified of coasters ever since.
I've refused to go on any.
It was just a kiddie coaster, but if that happened on a larger ride, it would've been fatal! it was scary.
